Dylan had another fun-filled day at yesterday's Memorial Day Bon Voyage BBQ at Cindy's house. He loved being in the water, and he's always thrilled to bits hanging out with Jason and Tyler so, naturally, he had a good day!
His walking has also progressed rapidly since Mother's Day! Where at first he'd only be able stay upright for maybe a max of 15-20 steps, after yesterday, he now seems a lot steadier and is definitely more capable of going farther! I think playing with Tyler may have been a big motivator for him to stay on his feet.
Dylan also just loved Jason's Little Tikes coupe. He did the walk-around thing with it, then checked out the interior, then he finally climbed in for a test drive!
How well he sleeps is always a good measure of how much fun he's had, and last night, he slept like a log (ok, a slightly rolly log, but he was a lot less restless than usual!).
I'm just now finding time to blog about little D.'s bday and party!! It was a very hectic week at work and now we're in the midst of preparations for next week, so we have had lots to preoccupy us!
In any case, Dylan had fun at his party -- he didn't nap one iota during the day, but amazingly (and impressively!), he was remarkably chipper and affable for the entire party! At one point, he took a quickie nap right there on my shoulder...but, he popped back into action to open his gifts.
It was a beautiful day, and we really thoroughly enjoyed being able to celebrate this big milestone with such great friends and family...!
I put together a slideshow with some nice (to my ears, anyway) Sundanese gamelan music in the background (some year, maybe we can have my old gamelan gang perform for us), but you can view or browse some bday photos through flickr as well (I haven't decided yet whether I like the jumpcut or flickr solution better...).
I just heard about jumpcut recently -- a web-based photo/video slideshow editor developed in Flash. It got good reviews, so I thought I'd give it a whirl....The 4-minute clip chronicles pre-D as well as big D (delivery) day -- not the Due Date as labor was induced approximately 2 weeks early because of a "torn amniotic sac" suspicion (to this day, I don't know if that assessment was accurate!) -- and Dylan's first few days at home (following his first week at Sutter and the NICU at Dominican)....
We are very much looking forward to celebrating his first bday with friends and family this weekend!
We had such a wonderful Mother's Day celebration this year...and the celebratin' spanned two days! Last night, Christina, Tom, and Jeff sent us off for massages and dinner at Santana Row. Mom was made Christina's honorary "kid", so she joined us in the festivities! So, after Justin's bday party, Tom drove me to mom's house -- where us gals proceeded to head for the spa -- and he and Dylan headed for Jeff's house for some daddy-kiddie play/bonding time. How sweet was that??
Today, we spent the day at mom's house and watched the kiddies play. Jason and Tyler are so very sweet with Dylan. They clearly adore one another!
Aren't they cute???
Dylan also had his first taste of lychee (while we were out at lunch) and taho (a Filipino sweet treat consisting of soft tofu and a sweet brown sugar syrup). He eagerly gobbled it all up (gastronomically set for a trip to the Philippines...some day, some day!)!
Now that we're back home, Dylan is down for the count (more picture are on flickr, including this incredibly cute one of Rob and Jason)!
I shouldn't forget -- Dylan's MD gifts to me were flowers and 11 steps taken all on his own!!

Another day, another dollar (literally)! Tom and Dylan met me for lunch at Zachary's. We've started giving Dylan more food from our plates -- just simple stuff like gallo pinto and, at Zach's, some of my oatmeal.
He really loves sharing...!
Today, in fact (which is actually Wednesday), he tried sharing some of his Oatios with Taliana. What a sweet boy.

It is 85F today, so we figured today was a fine day to bust out the kiddie pool. Dylan and Taliana had fun splashing around, despite the cold water!!!

Dylan has Tooth #5 and #6 coming in, but in this picture, you can only see teeth 1 through 4 (2 bottom teeth and his 2 uppers).
This past weekend, we visited my cousins in Fremont, stopped at Cindy's for a little play break (oh, can't forget falafels for lunch), helped HAT move into their new place and, finally, we planted some dino kale, Kandy corn, and stupice and cherokee purple heirloom tomatoes (have yet to put snap peas and four other varieties of heirloom tomatoes into the ground...).
Dylan enjoyed everything but the Saturday car rides to and from Fremont. He howled 95% of the time! The poor little guy kept signing for "milk" and I could not oblige...!
Smiles are definitely far, far, far more preferable...!

Took a break from work to go get some smoothies, and Dylan was expressing great interest in having some of mine (he loves drinking from a straw!). He isn't eating strawberries yet, but the nice people at Jamba Juice made a custom-order fruit smoothie for him with just mango, peach and banana! Dylan loved it!
