Dylan's 40...

06/26/2006 - blue/gray eyes wide open!...in days, that is!

At today's doctor's appointment, he weighed in at 8 lbs. 14 oz. which means he's gained 14 ounces in 15 days. His eyes are now completely clear and his skin has lost all traces of yellow. In short, it's all thumbs-up with him!

He's still eating well and now he's alert for longer periods of time during the day.

Jason and Dylan - 06/27/2006

Jason and Dylan - 06/27/2006

We all went to Palo Alto for lunch (at Kan Zeman) and a trip to the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. The museum was little, with just a few displays involving golf balls and an equally small zoo with only a rabbit, some bats, a few geese and ducks, some snakes and lizards, some fish and a peacock.

Despite its size (Jason was wondering where the zebra and giraffe were!), it's still a great place to take little kids.

Right next to the museum and zoo, there was a playground where Jason and Tyler could run around for a little while before we all headed back to San Jose.

The picture here is taken at the playground....Jason and Tyler both still adore Dylan, so Jason was ecstatic that he could hold Dylan on his lap for a bit...!

Dylan is 5 weeks old today and not looking any less cute than ever!

He's so peaceful when he sleeps. This week, he's exhibited signs of appreciating walks in the Peanut Shell and good responsiveness to Itsy Bitsy Yoga and infant massage.

Both yoga and massage seem to help him pass gas and poop.

He's also smiling more often, too!

Father's Day at Cindy's house

father's day 06/18/2006We had a Father's Day celebration with my family at Cindy's house where we just had some chow and hung out for a while.

Tom and I also celebrated on Sunday with a walk along West Cliff (actually, Tom did a 5-mile run while Dylan and I walked) and dinner at Zeni Ethiopian in Saratoga. Dylan was so patient at dinner and remained asleep even though there was a 45-minute wait for our food! That was way more patience than he exhibited after the West Cliff walk when, poor thing, he just got fed up with being in his car seat!

16 days old

Dylan had another follow-up appointment with his doc at 16 days old mostly to trend his bili levels and to check on his surgical procedure! All went well. At Day 16, he weighed in at an even 8 lbs., meaning he pretty much returned to his original birth weight and gained the expected 1 oz./day thereafter. So, basically, he's right on track per the medical charts.

Week 2 was a very good eating/nursing week...week 3 -- right on target, according to various books -- marked the beginning of his first growth spurt accompanied by a newly voracious appetite!

Dylan's a fantastic (a little overzealous, in fact) milk factory production manager...he worked up quite a demand in Week 3 and now, I think, we may actually have too much!
