It was a gorgeous Thursday and Cindy and I kid-swapped in the PM (so I could do work and so she could visit the acupuncturist)! While she was getting stuck with a bunch of needles, I took the kids to the beach! They found all sorts of "clues" (to what, I don't know), climbed logs, checked out seaweed, and laid down in the sand.
Dylan just stayed in the carrier and took it all in...!

No doubt, Dylan loves banging on things...so, no surprise that he gravitated towards this drum at today's bday party for Hailey and Kees!
Dylan had a great time playing with his pals and test-riding Kees's rocking horse. He ate baby appetizers (Oatios and tofu cubes topped with cooked carrot) and cantaloupe and just generally had a good time.
It's hard to believe that these babies are already celebrating their first birthdays!! Time is just whizzing by....

I went into work early to check in about tasks, etc., so it turns out I was able to stay with Dylan in the PM (I postponed my work for the evening hours). Mom was expecting him, though, so we dropped Tom off at work, picked up mom, and then headed to Cindy's for lunch and play time.
Here's Dylan and mom in front of the play house -- the scene of much merriment and raucous play!
For a little while, mom was Jason's patient, but he apparently had to call 911 because her "blood tester was low!" These kids crack me up.

Dylan had another fun day with Lola, Auntie Cindy, Jason and Tyler. Even Auntie Christina made a guest appearance at the end of the day!
Mom claims Dylan said, "Lola" three times...he'd look at her and then say it (or vice-versa!). Cindy corroborated the claim. If all is to be taken as true, Dylan's official first word will have been "Lola."
Of course, I need to add that there's great "skills inflation" going on at Lola's house! Dylan tipped over in my direction and mom proclaimed, "Oh, my gawd, he took a step...!" Not so much...!

Jeff and Cindy had to come over to Santa Cruz for a bday party, so they came early to hang out with us beforehand!
Dylan crashed out in the swing while Cindy and I went to grab sandwiches from Zoccoli's.
Meanwhile, Jason and Tyler played and played!
When Dylan woke up, there was Auntie Christina!
Fun was had by all...and at the end of the day, Dylan totally sacked out.

Tom and Dylan went downtown to do some errands while I went for a run, then afterwards, it was just a day indoors...

What's our little rock star up to these days? He now signs "light" and "fan" pretty consistently...and, he's discovered that if he raises his arms up, I can't easily pick him up and drag him away from whatever it is he's not supposed to touch!
He also really, really likes playing games with us and, according to Tom, he enjoys going to the hardware store (I think this is a little projection, myself, though!!). He's working on his waves bye bye, too, but he's still really pretty sporadic about it....Oh, and he gives very wet kisses and cracks up when I sign "sleep" to him at bedtime!

Mom writes: "while you were working this is what zyggy was doing. he is fascinated with cartoons. but we had singing sessions too, patty cake, abc's itsy bitsy spider dnd playtme. he is beginning to learn how to clap his hands only problem he does it w/ closed fists. those eyes are gorgeous sooo round . zyggy is a good baby never cries."

Dylan actually napped in the morning this past Friday, so we rushed out to Blue Ball where we were meeting up with Heather and Taliana as well as some other moms and babes! I forgot Dylan's hat -- and my camera -- but luckily, Dylan's pal Ben had a spare...!

Every first Saturday of the month, Joya does Mothersong at the Attic downtown so that working parents can join in the fun....Since Dylan just loves Mothersong, we went to last Saturday's performance.
Dylan barely spent any time with us! He spent a lot of time crawling around in the center area, playing with scarves, shakers and bells, and he only came back to us for a snack (at the 24-hour "breastaurant"). Once he was done eating, off he went again!

Auntie Cindy, Jason and Tyler came over just to visit and to accompany us to Dylan's 9-month check-in at the doctor's.
Dylan's in the 10th percentile for weight (18.3 oz) and the 50th percentile for height (28.5").
On our handout from the doctor, it mentioned that we could play games like peek-a-boo and pat-a-cake with baby...! Quite coincidentally, I videotaped Jason busting out this tune for Dylan before we headed out of the house!

This is a follow up on this earlier post where I nearly swapped in my new cameraphone for a lesser model due to no Tom Tom Club ringtone! Dylan and I were appalled by the lack of availability....
Well, I am happy to report that I successfully set Tom's ringtone to "Genius of Love". The sound quality isn't great (I had to buy the song online for $0.99, convert it and send a PictureMail message to my cell phone and, finally, set the ringtone to Tom's caller ID), but now it's there!
Rejoice with me or not...!
Now, I'm thinking of buying the Addams Family theme song for mom....
